As principal VFX provider, RSP created Battle of Shanghai work including ruined-city extensions, aerial attacks, aircraft and an airship, fire, smoke, snow, a CG horse and a largely CG ancient-battle flashback.

My part

I worked through script and sequence breakdowns, production options and client negotiations to help define and secure RSP’s assignment. While RSP’s supervisor was on set in China, I handled the commercial discussions needed to bring the work into the studio on workable terms.

Why it mattered

Clear scope and realistic production options helped establish the foundations for RSP’s work, which went on to win the 2020 AACTA Award for Best Visual Effects or Animation.
